The Milwaukee Police Association (MPA) and the city of Milwaukee have reached a new contract agreement for police officers after more than three years without a deal. According to Spectrum News, the agreement has been ratified by the MPA and now awaits approval from the Milwaukee Common Council.

As reported by FOX 6 Now, the proposal includes a 14.25% base salary increase over four years, which totals a 15.01% increase when compounded. It also provides retroactive pay for the years 2023 through 2025. MPA President Alexander Ayala stated that 83% of voting members supported the agreement and expressed optimism about the Common Council’s approval.

The last contract expired in December 2022, but officers continued working without a new agreement. The new contract also protects officers from furloughs through at least 2028. As per a WISN report, the contract runs through 2026 and includes support from Common Council members, including Alderman Peter Burgelis, who advocated for adding a fourth year to the deal.
