Milwaukee's 13th District residents have an upcoming opportunity to engage with local government on the city's financial future. Alderman Scott Spiker has scheduled two town hall meetings focused on the Mayor's proposed 2026 city budget, providing a platform for constituents to gain insight and ask questions about the fiscal plan, according to the City of Milwaukee.
According to an announcement from Alderman Spiker's office, the first gathering will unfold at the Town of Lake Water Tower on Tuesday, October 14 at 6 p.m., situated at 4001 S. 6th St. Following shortly after, the second town hall is set for Wednesday, October 22 at 6 p.m., and will take place hosting attendees at Cooper Elementary School, located at 5143 S. 21st St. The City of Milwaukee Budget and Management Division will conduct presentations at both events, offering a representative to field questions post-presentation.
In a bid to include those who cannot attend the meetings, Alderman Spiker's office has published a public engagement survey. The survey can be accessed online, providing an alternative avenue for community engagement, as per the City of Milwaukee. In a statement obtained by the office of Alderman Spiker, he expressed the importance of public dialog in the budgeting process: "Public input is a key part of the budget process, and as such I would encourage district residents to attend one of the upcoming town hall meetings to learn more and ask any and every question they have related to our city's finances."
