Milwaukee's community-oriented spirits rise once more as the Residents for Change Neighborhood Association and Friends of Lincoln Park gear up for their 3rd Annual Community Resource Lunch event. Scheduled for October 18 from 1 – 4 p.m. at the Lincoln Park Pavilion, this gathering promises attendees not just a free lunch but also a chance to get their hands on community resources and might walk away with a new laptop from the event's giveaway. The generous spirit of the community thrives through these offerings, intending to bolster neighborly ties and spread awareness of local initiatives.
Nudging the locals to lean in and reap the benefits of this communal effort is Alderwoman Andrea M. Pratt who sees this as more than a meal and a meet. "I want to thank Residents for Change and the Friends of Lincoln Park for hosting this event that aims to bring community members together, share valuable resources, and promote local initiatives," Alderwoman Pratt said, her words captured in a release sourced from the City of Milwaukee. She views active and engaged neighborhoods as the backbone of a thriving community and the Community Resource Lunch as a catalyst for fostering such engagement.
The coalition driving this event, alongside Residents for Change and Friends of Lincoln Park, includes partnerships with notable entities such as the Milwaukee Police Department, Milwaukee County Parks, and Safe & Sound; these collaborations illustrate the shared vision for a community poised to uplift one another. Connectivity, access to resources, and safety are clearly at the forefront of the endeavor, echoing the sentiment that it takes a village to not only raise a child but also to empower an entire neighborhood.
