The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) has reinstated light rail service between Hunt Valley and Lutherville following a disruption caused by an active fire. The service, which connects BWI Airport/Glen Burnie with Hunt Valley, was temporarily halted yesterday, with a service alert issued at 1:16 p.m., as reported by Fox Baltimore.

Travelers found themselves seeking alternative routes as the fire led to a suspension of the Light Rail Link, compelling officials to provide shuttle bus service to navigate between the affected stations. Having cleared the site by 6 p.m. on the same day, fire and emergency personnel allowed for the service to resume, with MTA announcing the normal operation of the trains, WMAR 2 News reported. In contrast, the number of injuries or the cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.

During the interruption, MTA officials advised riders to allow for extra travel time and plan to accommodate the unexpected delay. The shuttle bus service, which was established shortly following the fire breaking out, assisted numerous patrons to their intended destinations despite the train service being at a standstill.

With the trains now running as scheduled, the normal flow of commutes is expected to resume without further need for shuttle services.
