As the federal government shutdown continues, Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo has urged Congress to reach a bipartisan resolution. In a communication to U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen, the Governor called for swift action to end the stalemate affecting Nevada residents. According to a statement obtained by News 3 LV, Lombardo said his administration is working to ease the financial difficulties caused by delayed paychecks and uncertain benefits.
A press release cited by FOX 5 Vegas stated that the Governor’s office has briefed Nevada’s federal delegation on the shutdown’s current and potential effects. However, with open enrollment for health care approaching, Lombardo emphasized the need for Congress to act quickly to reopen the government.
Senator Jacky Rosen reiterated her support for legislative efforts to end the shutdown, urging cooperation in Washington. She noted that without action, nearly 40,000 Nevadans could lose health coverage if enhanced premium tax credits under the Affordable Care Act are not extended.
Both Lombardo and Rosen have expressed concern for residents impacted by the shutdown as federal negotiations remain at an impasse.
