Orlando International Airport celebrated the opening of a new pedestrian bridge on Wednesday, marking a significant enhancement in mobility for travelers. Linking Terminal C to the Train Station and Terminal Link, the bridge is a key element of the ongoing expansion efforts designed to streamline passenger flow and upgrade facilities at one of the nation's busiest airports. According to ClickOrlando, this development was part of the original design for Terminal C but faced delays after the budget cuts brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Featuring two sets of moving walkways, each spanning 90 feet, the bridge is intended to be extended with the completion of the entire project. Scheduled to reach full realization in 2026, this will include the addition of a Rental Car Lobby and a third walkway to further support the traveler's journey. In a statement obtained by WFTV, Lance Lyttle, CEO of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, emphasized, “The Pedestrian Bridge represents both progress and a promise,” signaling the authority's commitment to meeting passenger needs.
Terminal C, known for serving a significant number of international flights, is also seeing a Phase 1 gate expansion. With the addition of four new boarding piers designed to accommodate eight narrow-body equivalent aircraft positions, the terminal is positioned to cater to the burgeoning demand for air travel, particularly in the international sector.
