New York City braces for a storm system rolling in, promising heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and brisk winds across the boroughs, according to the National Weather Service. Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island are all expected to be impacted.

Reports indicate a "100% chance of precipitation" with new rainfall amounts between one and two inches possible. Particularly gusty conditions are anticipated, with easterly wind gusts ranging from 30 to 40 mph. This has initiated a Hazardous Weather Outlook, with the National Weather Service cautioning against nuisance flooding in urban and poor drainage areas, though the "risk for flash flooding is low and localized."

The storm, expected to peak today, will subside somewhat by Friday, but conditions will remain breezy with continued west wind gusts as high as 36 mph. The outlook improves heading into the weekend, with forecasts predicting sunny skies and gradually diminishing winds. Temperatures across the boroughs are expected to hold steady, with highs hovering near the low 60s and evening lows dipping into the high 40s.

Coastal areas are the on receiving end of additional advisories. A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for areas including Hudson, Eastern Essex, and Staten Island, with residents advised to stay alert. To the marine community, winds on the water are fierce enough to warrant a Gale Warning until Saturday, impacting New York Harbor and the south shore bays from Jones Inlet through Shinnecock Bay.

According to the National Weather Service's seven-day forecast, no hazardous weather is expected after this system passes through, offering the region a reprieve to enjoy the crisp fall weather expected in early November.
