Big economic developments are on the horizon for Ohio, as Governor Mike DeWine and Lieutenant Governor Jim Tressel, alongside Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik, have revealed plans that will potentially create 218 new jobs and retain nearly 1,165 across the state. According to an announcement from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine's office, these ventures are set to inject more than $14 million in new payroll and spur over $2.1 billion in investments throughout Ohio. The Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) gave the nod to these proposals, which originated from the collaboration between JobsOhio and its regional allies.

The central region of Ohio is poised to significantly benefit, with Axium Packaging, LLC aiming to establish a new manufacturing facility for plastic packaging solutions in Jersey Township and the city of New Albany. This move is expected to generate 70 full-time-equivalent positions and surge over $3.6 million in new annual payroll. "The proposed project will include the construction of a new facility for added capacity for tube manufacturing and specialized warehouse operations," as detailed by the Governor Mike DeWine's office. Not far behind, Vantage Data Centers Management Company, LLC plans to construct a data center in Millersport, Fairfield County, which is likely to create 37 new jobs and a $3.7 million payroll increase. At the cost of a striking $2.1 billion investment in facilities, the TCA has awarded the project with a lucrative 50 percent, 10-year Data Center Tax Exemption.

Becker Mining America, Inc., in Northeast Ohio, gears up to settle into Mount Vernon with ambitions to create 40 new jobs and a $2.4 million payroll benefit. The company aims to strengthen its U.S. customer service through this new location by housing intellectual property and enhancing its manufacturing operations. Likewise, in Southeast Ohio, The Ohio Bridge Corporation intends to expand its Cambridge operation to construct a 70,000-square-foot building for advanced welding equipment, which anticipates adding 41 jobs and over $2.3 million in new annual payroll.

Finally, turning to the southwest corner of the state, the Finnish advanced manufacturing company, VILPE USA LLC, has selected the city of Mason to establish its North American headquarters. This strategic setup promises to generate 30 new jobs and accrue more than $2.7 million in new annual payroll. "The proposed project includes the establishment of the company’s first North American office and will serve as its North American headquarters," Governor Mike DeWine's office outlined. Each of these projects has received individual tax credit approvals ranging from six to ten years, aiming to support the creation and retention of these jobs within Ohio's diverse economic landscape.
