
Ohio is eyeing a jobs and investment boom, as Governor Mike DeWine, alongside Lt. Governor Jim Tressel and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik, announced a substantial economic development initiative featuring 12 projects with the promise of generating 1,126 new jobs and retaining 2,686 existing positions across the state, as reported yesterday by the Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.
The Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) has vetted and approved these projects, which collectively forecast more than $73 million in new payroll and surpassing the $2 billion mark in statewide investments, tech companies like AndHealth LLC in Columbus are looking to beef up their workforce by adding 75 full-time positions, equating to $10.2 million in yearly payroll, aiming to address the chronic illness challenge through digital health solutions and pharmacy partnerships that target both health outcomes and equitable accessibility, meanwhile, New Albany is set to see a tech infrastructure enhancement with EdgeConneX's incoming multi-phase data center that expects to add 32 jobs and $4 million to the payroll, not to mention the anticipated expansion of LayerZero Power Systems in Streetsboro that stands to create 535 positions tallying over $26.1 million in payroll.
A variety of other industries throughout Ohio are also slated for growth, including Prentke Romich Company in Wayne County, set to employ 60 new staff members and generate $5.1 million in new annual payroll from their expansion dedicated to augmentative communication devices and Valleurec Star in Youngstown planning an expansion to produce a new production line, they expect to tack on 40 positions accumulating more than $2.3 million in payroll, says the official statement from the governor's office.
The Northwest region isn't lagging either, with Engineered Plastic Components setting up shop in Fremont to fabricate Tier 1 automotive and medical bed products, bringing 150 jobs and $6.5 million in additional annual payroll and Church & Dwight Co. in Old Fort anticipating 40 new employment opportunities, enriching its workforce by $3 million annually owing to facility upgrades and a new product line expansion, likewise, The Ohio Art Company has plans for facility improvements and the consolidation of operations that aims to introduce 53 new jobs, which translates to more than $2.7 million in payroll.
Southwest Ohio also enjoys a fair share of economic enthusiasm with investments like Air Transport Services Group's Wilmington expansion aimed at supporting air cargo transportation, which is expected to create 48 new jobs and a $3.5 million increase in annual payroll, BSI Engineering's Deerfield Township project foreseeing 29 new jobs and a $4.7 million payroll boost, and Flavor Producers in Sharonville planning to pump up their production capabilities potentially adding 44 positions yielding more than $3.5 million in annual payroll, plus The Constant Company's foray into Springfield through the creation of a new data center is projected to add 20 jobs and contribute $1.5 million in payroll.
