Milwaukee’s District 1 youth are invited to apply for an open seat on the Milwaukee Youth Council. Alderwoman Andrea M. Pratt announced the opportunity for students to represent their peers and participate in local government discussions that address issues affecting young residents.

According to the City of Milwaukee release, Alderwoman Pratt, council members serve as the eyes, ears, and voices of Milwaukee’s youth, ensuring that city leaders consider the needs and perspectives of young people in policy discussions.

Applicants must live in Milwaukee, be between 14 and 18 years old, and commit to a one-year term. Members are required to attend meetings held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month at City Hall and take part in additional trainings and activities.

Council members receive $25 per meeting, along with refreshments during in-person sessions and a pre-paid WisGo Card. Interested students can find application details at Milwaukee.gov/YouthCouncil.
