Today, Governor Josh Shapiro joined Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding and local agriculture experts at Talview Dairy Farm to celebrate a significant milestone: the preservation of over 650,000 acres of Pennsylvania farmland. This preservation effort marks a notable achievement for the state's agriculture sector, which is recognized as a key economic force.
In a commendable initiative to boost the local economy, the state has focused efforts to properly support the nearly 600,000 jobs that rely on agriculture, which in turn contributes about $132 billion to Pennsylvania's economy. Shapiro's administration has been working over the past two years to effectively cut red tape, aiming to seamlessly modernize government operations that would in turn help farms and agricultural businesses to steadily grow.
The event, which took place at 2:15 PM on October 15, 2025, featured several key speakers, including Brent Copenhaver, owner of Talview Dairy Farm, and Stephanie Zimmerman, Director of the PA Bureau of Farmland Preservation. Paul Bametzreider, Chairman of the Lebanon Co. Preservation Board, was also present to speak on the significance of farmland preservation in the region.
More details about the event are available on the official Pennsylvania Cast website.
