Following a brief interruption due to an unexpected plane crash, pheasant hunters can mark their calendars for the return of their sport at Rose Lake State Game Area today. As per an official release from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, pheasant releases are resuming after an air accident in Bath Township had put a temporary stop to the activity near the wildlife haven, hindering some of Michigan's hunting season plans.
The hunt had been put on pause, not by choice but by circumstance. Now, the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board have brought their investigation to a close, and with that, any restrictions on the pheasant hunting schedule are now lifted; however, hunters are still encouraged to steer clear of the actual site where the plane went down. As hunting was on hold, the birds that were meant to feel the October air on the originally planned date are now being redistributed across the remaining release dates that span from October 20 to November 14.
In response to the resumption, Michigan's Department of Natural Resources has ensured that the rooster pheasants will still take flight in the skies of 13 designated state game and wildlife areas, continuing a tradition that threads through the fabric of southern Michigan's fall tapestry.
