Phoenixville has installed a new bus shelter at the busy intersection of Church and Main Streets, improving amenities for riders on SEPTA routes 99 and 139. The project, part of a county-wide initiative led by Chester County Commissioners and the Chester County Planning Commission, aims to enhance public transportation and accessibility.

"Public transportation is a lifeline for many of our residents, connecting them to jobs, healthcare, education, and other day-to-day needs. Something as simple as a bus shelter can make a big difference—providing comfort and safety for riders as they wait," Board Chair Josh Maxwell said. The shelter supports the goals of the County's Landscapes3 Public Transportation Plan, which focuses on improving rider experience and overall transit infrastructure, according to the Chester County.

Phoenixville Borough installed a new bus shelter as part of streetscape improvements, funded by a County grant that allowed the Borough to choose the shelter. The Borough is responsible for installing and maintaining it. The shelter includes solar lighting and is part of efforts to improve transit options and pedestrian infrastructure, supporting the County’s Public Transportation Plan, as reported by the Chester County.
