The youth of Pinellas Park are steadily transforming their community, proving that civic responsibility is not lost on the younger generation. As part of Florida City Government Week, TeenWorkX pitched in alongside the Public Works and Parks & Rec departments for a sweeping park clean-up. This initiative is a testament to the ongoing efforts in the city to engage its younger residents in hands-on environmental stewardship.
According to a recent social media post by the City of Pinellas Park, the event not only helped to maintain the local parks but also allowed participants to experience the value of their work in real-time. "Our youth are making a difference! 🙌," the post exclaimed, highlighting the dedication of these young individuals to their community's well-being. Furthermore, the beautification efforts seem to have paid off with the Mayor’s Park at Freedom Lake becoming a finalist in the Great Places in Florida competition—praised for its beauty and dedication to wellness, including a cherished Korean War Memorial.
Mayor’s Park received recognition as the only park on Florida’s Gulfside to be nominated for the award. City officials said the nomination highlights ongoing efforts to develop public spaces that promote both natural preservation and community involvement.
