A string of thefts from vehicles across Pittsburgh's Downtown and North Side neighborhoods has culminated in the arrest of John Felix Olszewski IV, 34. Pittsburgh police arrested Olszewski on charges of larceny, stemming from a series of break-ins targeting local parking garages. WPXI reports that plainclothes detectives arrested on Smithfield Street this past Wednesday.
Despite his legal prohibition from owning a firearm, Olszewski was found armed at the time of his detention with a gun. In their search, authorities recovered a range of stolen goods, including headphones, knives, various tools, and gift cards, all believed to have been taken from unsuspecting vehicle owners.
KDKA Radio adds to the account, noting that the recovered items also included electronics and bank cards, in addition to the previously mentioned items. Olszewski faces a slew of charges, further compounded by his unlawful possession of a firearm, with additional counts including receiving stolen property and theft.
The Allegheny County Jail now houses Olszewski as he awaits proceedings related to his alleged thefts. Police have showcased the stolen items, offering a silent testament to the litany of petty crimes that have culminated in his capture. Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh police continue their investigation, looking to tie up any loose threads and serve justice in the wake of Olszewski's alleged crime spree.
