Residents and visitors in Jacksonville will experience mostly sunny skies today, with highs around 78 degrees. Tonight, skies are expected to be mostly clear, with temperatures falling to approximately 63 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Sunny conditions are expected to continue into Thursday, with a high near 79 degrees, as reported by the NWS. Similar weather is forecast for Friday. Both Thursday and Friday evenings will feature clear skies, with lows in the mid-60s. A slight change is expected on Sunday, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon.
Beachgoers heading to the coast should be aware that a high rip current risk is currently in effect. The NWS has issued the advisory for Southeast Georgia beaches, remaining in place through late Thursday night. These conditions may pose a hazard to swimmers, regardless of experience level.
Individuals are advised to swim near a lifeguard and, if caught in a rip current, to stay calm and float. It is recommended not to swim against the current but instead to move parallel to the shoreline if possible. If escape is not possible, they should face the shore and signal for help. These guidelines are intended to address the risks associated with rip currents and highlight the importance of caution in coastal areas.
