Port Charlotte's local green thumbs are in for a treat as the Centennial Park Recreation Center opens its doors for a hydroponic gardening workshop. Scheduled for October 22, with sessions running from noon until 2 p.m. and a second from 2 until 4 p.m., interested parties can register now to secure their spot in this informative dive into soilless cultivation.
According to the Charlotte County website, the workshop will focus specifically on growing hydroponic lettuce using a non-circulating system, providing a peek into the world of home-based hydroponics, where a simple bucket can transform into a nexus for nutrient-rich greens and the attendees will not only grasp the foundational concepts of this gardening method but will also leave with a complete kit – seedlings included.
Master Gardener Volunteer Bob Prier, a veteran in the field of hydroponics, will be leading the charge, imparting his knowledge and experience to ensure every participant walks away with a practical understanding of this space-efficient agricultural practice. It's a hands-on affair, reflecting Prier's belief in the transformative power of direct engagement with the subject matter.
Interested folks are encouraged to sign up quickly, as the allure of mixing water, nutrients, and seeds in pursuit of the perfect head of lettuce is strong, to participate in this unique workshop, registration is open on Eventbrite, and for more delicate inquiries or the quest for further information, Holly Bates can be reached at [email protected] or via phone at 941-764-4352, details courtesy of the Charlotte County announcement.
