Thousands of Nevada County residents may face delays in receiving food assistance as the federal shutdown continues. According to the Nevada County government website, November CalFresh benefits could be postponed if federal funding is not restored soon. Recipients are urged to stay current with reporting requirements to help prevent additional delays.
October’s CalFresh benefits were distributed as scheduled, but uncertainty remains for November. The Nevada County advises recipients to monitor their balances using the EBT Edge mobile app or the 24/7 EBT customer service line. Officials emphasize the importance of following all reporting procedures to ensure timely benefit distribution once funding resumes.
CalFresh contributes about $2.3 million each month to Nevada County’s economy, supporting grocery stores, farmers markets, and other local businesses. More than 10% of county residents rely on the program, making potential delays a concern for both households and the local economy.
Residents needing immediate food assistance can call 211 for information on local food distribution centers. Community groups such as the Food Bank of Nevada County and Interfaith Food Ministry are working to provide additional support through donations and volunteer efforts.
Other county services are operating normally. Officials will continue to share updates from the California Department of Social Services as new information becomes available.
