The city of Raleigh is gearing up for a variety of weather changes this week, according to the latest update from the National Weather Service. Residents can expect the skies to be partly sunny today with a calm segue into the low to mid-60s, a slight deviation from the current overcast conditions reported earlier this morning.
For those planning late-night activities or early commutes, be aware that there's a slight chance of rain after 2am. The evening will maintain mostly cloudy skies, with temperatures dropping to a low of around 50 degrees with a gentle northeast wind. While the chance of precipitation stands at 20%, it's wise to carry an umbrella, just to be safe.
As we move into Monday, the National Weather Service forecast projects a 40% chance of rain, mainly after the afternoon. Temperatures are expected to rise to a high of about 59 degrees amid mostly cloudy conditions. Gusts could reach as high as 18 mph, putting a brisk edge on an otherwise unremarkable day.
Monday night will bring a higher likelihood of rain, with a 60% chance of rain mainly occurring after 8pm. The northeast wind will persist, reaching speeds of 11 to 13 mph, with possible gusts as high as 23 mph. "Rain likely, mainly after 8pm. Cloudy, with a low around 49," quantifies the anticipated evening outlook, as per the NWS forecast.
The week's turbulent weather continues with Tuesday offering a 40% chance of rain, most likely before the afternoon. As the northeast wind howls at approximately 14 mph, occasional gusts could rattle windows with speeds up to 25 mph. While the clouds persist, a high temperature near 58 degrees is expected.
Looking ahead, Wednesday and Thursday will follow a similar pattern with chances of showers and partly sunny skies intermittently. By the weekend, Raleigh residents can finally bask in sunny weather with highs hovering in the low 60s. The stretch from Friday through Saturday promises clearer skies, providing a brief respite from the damp and drizzly conditions experienced earlier in the week.
