A tragic incident occurred at an H-E-B warehouse where a 27-year-old employee, Teresa Dominguez, died after experiencing what appears to have been a medical episode. According to KSAT, Dominguez was operating a forklift early Friday morning when she came to a stop, exhibiting signs of distress that prompted her co-workers to call for emergency medical services.
While initial reports suggested possible forklift-related injuries, further details from Fox San Antonio confirmed that the employee had not sustained injuries due to a forklift nor was she found unconscious in a freezer, but rather she passed away following her medical episode at a hospital.
The investigation into the cause of Dominguez's distress and subsequent death is ongoing, with both local authorities and the company involved. H-E-B issued a statement expressing their grief over the loss of their employee, "Our H-E-B Family is heartbroken, and we are providing support to and are in contact with the family during this difficult time," a company spokesperson conveyed to KSAT.
H-E-B reiterated its commitment to supporting both the family of the deceased and its workforce during the aftermath of the incident. "We are also staying close to our Partners," they explained to Fox San Antonio, ensuring that the company's efforts to offer assistance and ensure well-being extend to their employees. As San Antonio Police Department continues to piece together the events leading up to the medical emergency, the company has pledged its full cooperation.
