
A 51-year-old woman was taken into custody by the Seattle Police Department for allegedly striking a firefighter and biting a police officer during an incident in the Central District on Friday afternoon. Law enforcement was summoned to the 1400 block of South Weller Street following a report of a disruptive patient within a medic vehicle. Arriving at the scene, responding officers encountered the woman amidst a tirade, tossing items onto the street displaying marked agitation, as reported by the Seattle Police Department Blotter.
The confrontation intensified with the woman hurling insults alongside racially charged language, a firefighter at the scene recounted being punched twice by the woman, resulting in minor facial and neck injuries according to the same Seattle Police Department report. Upon her arrest, the situation escalated further, she reacted by biting an officer on the hand which introduced pain; the woman had reportedly boasted about assaulting police before including issuing additional threats to the effect of claiming she would perpetrate further violence and even kill.
Following the altercation, first responders transported the woman to Harborview Medical Center for a medical evaluation. Once cleared, she was booked into King County Jail facing third-degree assault charges; this was corroborated by both the initial police account and subsequent reports, as per the Seattle Police Department.
The case has been turned over to the Seattle Police Department’s Homicide and Assault Unit for further investigation. Detectives are reviewing what happened before and during the assault, gathering witness statements, police reports, and possible motives.
