The culinary landscape of Texas has once again garnered high praise with the latest edition of the venerable MICHELIN Guide. Governor Greg Abbott took to the podium to extend his congratulations to the Texas restaurants that have made their mark on the 2025 MICHELIN Guide Texas. According to a statement from the Governor's office, the guide highlighted 18 one-MICHELIN-Star establishments, alongside four MICHELIN Green Star eateries, which stand as a testament to the state's culinary expertise.
The guide, which is in its second year and tailored to the tastes of Texas, showcases the greater Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio areas in its current selection. Governor Abbott emphasized the depth of the Texan foodservice industry, pointing out the sector's significant contributions, with more than 1.3 million jobs and a hefty $199 billion to the state economy. Governor Abbott told reporters that as the MICHELIN Guide returns to Texas for its second year, the state is serving up even more world-renowned restaurants and rich flavors that can only be found in Texas.
During a ceremony held last night in Houston, the MICHELIN Guide Texas was unveiled with much excitement. Chefs and representatives of the culinary establishments received their honors in a celebration of their exceptional gastronomic contributions to not just the local food scene but also to the global viewership. This event, supported by Travel Texas, nodded to both the state's time-honored barbecue practices and its broader, multidimensional flavor profiles.
According to a statement from the Governor's office, Travel Texas Director Tim Fennell expressed pride in the recognition given by MICHELIN, stating, "The MICHELIN Guide Texas continues to make history, recognizing our state's longstanding barbecue traditions as a cuisine worth traveling for, while also showcasing the incredible diversity of flavors that can be found across our great state." The director's words signify the efforts made by Travel Texas in collaboration with convention and visitor bureaus, local chambers of commerce, and other associations to elevate the culinary standing of the state and to encourage culinary exploration among tourists – both domestic and international.
