New York City’s doughnut scene will expand with the arrival of Portland-based Voodoo Doughnut, which is opening its first Northeast location in Union Square. According to AMNY, the doughnut shop announced the new location at 41 Union Square West, near 17th Street, through a social media post.
Chris Schultz, CEO of Voodoo Doughnut, expressed his excitement about the expansion, saying, "Opening in New York City is more than a milestone. It is a defining moment in Voodoo Doughnut’s history." He noted that Union Square reflects the brand’s values with its energy, creativity, and diversity, making it an ideal location for their first venture into the vibrant melting pot of NYC. Since its founding in Portland, Oregon in 2003, Voodoo Doughnut has grown significantly, becoming known for signature creations like maple-glazed, bacon-topped doughnuts and inventive varieties with names such as the Old Dirty Bastard and the crispy-cereal-topped Oh Captain, as PIX 11 describes.
The exact opening date for the Union Square location has not been announced. Voodoo Doughnut, which operates 24 stores nationwide, has been featured on The Travel Channel, MTV, Wheel of Fortune, and GQ. The company is known for its doughnut offerings and doughnut weddings, attracting attention from both locals and visitors.
