The streets of West Augustine are set to come alive with the footsteps and hearts of those touched by cancer, as the community gears up for the 12th Annual Keep Calm and Walk for Cancer Walk and Cancer Ceremony. Slated for tomorrow, this event isn't just another stride through the neighborhood—it stands as a collective act of hope, a gesture of solidarity with those who've looked cancer in the eye, whether they've overcome, are still in the trenches of treatment, or are marching in memory of loved ones lost.
The initiative, organized by the West Augustine CRA Steering Committee, signals more than a weekend activity; it's the pulse of the community, beating together for a single, resonant cause. The morning will commence at 10:00 a.m. with participants congregating at the Church of God in Christ at 760 West King Street, the walk will then thread its way to the culmination point at Collier Blocker Park located at 10 N. Holmes Blvd, where the ceremony will follow at 11:00 a.m., so the event is not just a walk it is also a moment to publicly honor the calvary of cancer warriors.
What makes this year's walk distinct, as shared in a social media post from St. Johns County, is the collective stride toward a future where the shadow of cancer is but a relic. "Help us make a real impact," the post underscored, exhorting the community to join hands, "Together, we can walk toward a future without cancer."
