Commuters in the White River region can breathe a sigh of relief as the essential White River Bridge on State Road 410 has reopened to traffic a full two weeks earlier than anticipated. The bridge, recognized as an anchoring piece of infrastructure, has been unavailable, leading to complications in the day-to-day life of residents. In the words of local representatives, "During this time, we showed each other compassion and eased burdens – a testament to who we are as a community."
The accelerated reopening was a cooperative effort, with acknowledgments directed at Gov. Ferguson and the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) for their prompt action. According to a statement obtained by housedemocrats.wa.gov, local businesses hit by the bridge closure now have the opportunity to apply for Economic Injury Disaster Loans thanks to the U.S. Small Business Administration. These loans aim to support entities across a wide span, including King and Pierce counties in addition to several bordering counties.
Businesses in need of financial assistance are encouraged to apply through the MySBA Loan Portal online. The ongoing Federal government shutdown poses potential delays, but services continue regardless. Should there be any questions, the SBA disaster assistance customer service center can be reached at [email protected] or by phone at 1-800-659-2955.
