Wilmington Police have brought a 20-year-old man, Semaj Lloyd, into custody on charges related to a series of armed robberies. The arrest, following an in-depth investigation, was the outcome of diligent detective work responding to incidents that unsettled the 300 block of East 25th Street earlier this July.
The first of the armed robberies was reported on July 15, around 4:46 p.m., with another following shortly on July 19, at around 5:25 p.m. The Uniformed Services Division of Wilmington Police, handling the initial response, eventually passed the baton to Detective Brendan Wham of the Criminal Investigations Division. During his investigation, Detective Wham identified Lloyd as the principal suspect, obtained warrants for his arrest, as documented on Nixle.
On October 4, Lloyd's chapter of alleged criminal activities ended when the Gun Intelligence Unit located him at the corner of East 10th and North Pine Streets and placed him under arrest without further ado. The charges against Lloyd are serious and multiple, including two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, and second-degree conspiracy.
Following his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, Lloyd was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution. The cash-only bail was set at a steep $221,000. This was when the story was first reported, authorities are ensuring the public that Lloyd is being held accountable for the slew of charges that were brought against him.
