A woman was found dead of a gunshot wound yesterday in Southfield, as reported by local law enforcement. According to ClickOnDetroit, Southfield Police responded to a call at approximately 11:40 p.m. to a residence on Bainbridge Drive. The details are sparse, but authorities have indicated that the woman was acquainted with the suspect, though no further information on the suspect has been released to the public at this time.
The FOX 2 Detroit added that no arrests have been made, and officers found the victim suffering from the gunshot wound upon their arrival, the officers responding to a distressing scenario that unfolded in the 18000 block of Bainbridge Drive, this area being situated near the intersection of 13 Mile Road and Southfield Road, which had turned into the scene of the latest tragedy rocking the local community.
Statistics from the latest Michigan State Police crime data, disclosed by The Detroit News, illuminate a concerning trend for the area. Southfield recorded one murder in 2023, up from two the previous year, which pales in comparison to four in 2021 and three in 2020. The killing of this unnamed woman marks yet another act of violence in a region that has recently witnessed multiple shootings, including an incident at the Rosa Parks Transit Center in Detroit and a violent episode at a Mormon church in Grand Blanc Township.
To assist in the investigation, the Southfield Police Department is soliciting tips from the public, urging anyone with relevant information to make contact either by calling (248) 796-5500 or by reaching out to Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
