In a recent and perhaps unconventional turn of events, a Wayne County woman has attributed her substantial lottery win to an artificial intelligence program. Wyandotte resident Tammy Carvey, 45, won a $100,000 prize from the Michigan Lottery after employing the digital intellect of ChatGPT to select her Powerball numbers. ClickOnDetroit reported that Carvey, motivated by a soaring jackpot that had exceeded the $1 billion mark, matched four white balls and the Powerball in the September 6 drawing.

According to details provided by Carvey, the usual $50,000 prize was doubled thanks to her decision to include the Power Play option in her ticket purchase. "I only play Powerball when the jackpot gets up there and the jackpot was over $1 billion so I bought a ticket," Carvey told Michigan Lottery Connect. She continued to explain that, initially believing to had won $50,000 after verifying the winnings through Google, it was not until she logged into her Michigan Lottery account that she realized the gravity of her win.

While it may sound like a narrative plucked from a science fiction novel, Carvey's experience is grounded firmly in reality. She purchased her winning ticket on the Michigan Lottery website, MichiganLottery.com, and later claimed her prize at the state lottery headquarters. With her winnings, she plans to take care to pay off her home and save the remaining funds.

Powerball tickets, as offered by the Michigan Lottery and sold across 45 states, are priced at $2 each. The Power Play feature, which can significantly augment non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times, comes at an additional cost of $1. "When I checked the winning numbers, I saw I matched four white balls and the Powerball and knew I had to have won something," said Carvey, recounting the moment of realization to CBS News Detroit. Despite her use of ChatGPT to select her winning numbers, the Michigan Lottery maintains that the results of all drawings are entirely random and cannot be predicted through the use of artificial intelligence or other predictive tools.
