St. Petersburg Fire Rescue announced the promotion of Zachary Tregoe to Firefighter Paramedic. In a recent social media post, the department shared that Tregoe has completed a comprehensive training program and will assume an expanded role in providing emergency medical care to the community. His training enables him to take a lead role in the treatment of critically ill and injured patients.

Tregoe completed over 1,100 hours of study and hands-on clinical training in pre-hospital emergency medical care to qualify as a Firefighter Paramedic. A recent social media post reported his successful completion of the National Registry exam and certification as a Paramedic in the State of Florida. He then joined SPFR’s Paramedic Training Program, which provides structured mentorship and direct observation in practical emergency care settings.

The program Tregoe completed focused on demonstrating competency through practical application of skills and knowledge. His training included maintaining logs, daily evaluations, testing, and observing patient care during multiple EMS calls. These experiences contributed to his clinical proficiency, which was evaluated through real-life scenarios overseen by the County Medical Director, according to St. Petersburg Fire Rescue.

St. Petersburg Fire Rescue acknowledged Tregoe’s completion of the Paramedic Training Program. The position of Firefighter Paramedic requires maintaining advanced skills and knowledge to respond to emergency situations. Completing the program expands Tregoe’s qualifications and enables him to provide emergency medical care to the residents of St. Petersburg.

The post also referenced professional organizations that support Firefighter Paramedics, including the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, the Florida Department of Health (DOH), and JEMS – Emergency Medical Services.
