A robbery incident involving a convicted felon wielding a firearm led to a brief chase and subsequent arrest, the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department reports. The event unfolded in the early hours at a business on the 17000 block of Bear Valley Road in Hesperia, where Marco Canales, a 44-year-old resident of Adelanto, was identified as the suspect.
On the morning of November 21st, Canales allegedly robbed the establishment, which prompted a response from deputies of the Hesperia Police Station. Witnesses describe seeing a black Chrysler hastily depart from the scene. When approached by law enforcement, Canales led deputies on a chase that concluded with a foot pursuit after Canales abandoned his vehicle at Bear Valley Road and Third Avenue in the City of Victorville. Trying to escape, the deputies quickly apprehended him, as reported by officials.
Finding their subject, the deputies searched Canales's vehicle, which yielded not only the firearm used in the alleged robbery but also ammunition and "thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise." The suspect was subsequently arrested and faces multiple felony charges, including robbery, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon, assault with a deadly weapon, and making terrorist threats. Canales is being held at the High Desert Detention Center.
