Castro's ordeal began with the Eaton Fire, which engulfed his neighborhood, forcing him an escape from his burning home without shoes and resulting in severe burns to his feet. Since the disaster, which claimed a residence that had sheltered his family for four generations, Castro has been navigating temporary housing solutions, his situation exacerbated by the loss of homeowner's insurance before the fire. In an emotional reveal documented by NBC Los Angeles, Castro was visibly moved upon receiving the RV. "Oh my God, it's amazing," he exclaimed, as the significance of the gesture sank in.
EmergencRV started its mission following the catastrophic Camp Fire in Paradise, California. Woody and Luna were inspired by the resilience of those affected by the fire and saw an opportunity to facilitate recovery by providing mobile homes.
