An Annapolis man has been convicted of multiple charges, including first-degree assault, following a violent domestic attack earlier this year. Timothy Lee Styles, 57, stood trial at the Anne Arundel County Circuit Court, where he was found guilty on Thursday, of first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and false imprisonment, with sentencing set for December 3, as reported by Anne Arundel County news release.
According to county's news release, State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess described the altercation as a "verbal argument that turned increasingly violent against the victim as she attempted to flee to safety," revealing that Styles threatened the victim's life, wielded a knife at her neck, and strangled her until she was unable to breathe, the seriousness of the domestic attack recognized by the jury. Assistant State’s Attorney Isabelle Ferraro represented the state, and in her prosecution, the jury was presented with testimony from the victim about the harrowing April 11 incident, during which Styles inflicted knife wounds and attempted to strangle her.
The assault occurred at a residence on Bates Street in Annapolis, prompting intervention by the Annapolis Police Department. Following the altercation, the victim was urgently transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center to tend to her severe injuries. The court has heard the details of the assault, and the investigation led by local police was instrumental in piecing together the events leading to Styles' conviction.
