Residents can expect a high-pressure system that will contribute to fair weather conditions and above-normal temperatures at the start of the week, according to the National Weather Service Baltimore MD/Washington DC. The forecast indicates that while high clouds are expected to increase on Monday afternoon, precipitation is not anticipated to commence until after 12Z on Tuesday.
Looking ahead, the NWS predicts "Warm advection showers will spread across the area during the day Tuesday, exiting the area by daybreak Wednesday," and even though the atmosphere appears stable enough that thunder is not expected, there remains a chance for showers and potentially a few thunderstorms on Wednesday due to mild weather and weak instability, high shear despite some uncertainties including multiple boundaries and the approaching upper-level trough. Overnight lows leading into Wednesday are anticipated to be mild, staying in the 50s under a thick cloud cover with southerly winds.
For aviators, the near-term outlook includes P6SM SCT050-060 conditions with the potential for gusty winds during the afternoon hours. On Monday, increasing clouds are expected. Still, no immediate ceiling restrictions, the skies are projected to clear by Monday morning and become cloudier as the day progresses, thickening and lowering on Monday night. However, flight restrictions are possible starting Tuesday as showers move in and continue through Tuesday night, along with potential for low-level wind shear, the NWS notes.
On the maritime front, boaters should pay heed to a Small Craft Advisory that will be in effect from 11 PM this evening to 6 AM EST Monday for various zones including ANZ531>534, 537, 539>541, 543, the winds are expected to pick up tonight over the main Chesapeake Bay channel due to northerly channeling but will some diminish Monday, and as the week progresses, Small Craft Advisories will likely be required once again from late Wednesday through Thursday due to gusty west winds following a cold front that will sweep across the region.
