Residents of the Idlewild Apartment complex in northwest Harris County experienced heightened tension on Saturday when a suspicious item prompted the dispatch of a bomb squad to the residential venue. According to Click2Houston, the item, which looked like a bomb, was discovered by a man sorting through his recently deceased brother's possessions. Post discovery, a 911 call was placed at 3:57 p.m., bringing constable deputies to the scene at the 9915 block of FM 1960 Road west.
The situation, proving to be of serious concern, saw the involvement of the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office Bomb Squad. While authorities worked to assess and secure the scene, residents received instructions to distance themselves for safety. The bomb squad, having arrived, took x-rays of the item around 5 p.m., as per officials. It was around 7 p.m. when the squad was reportedly "neutralizing" the suspicious object, ensuring the safety of those nearby, as reported by Click2Houston.
Meanwhile, FOX26 Houston reports added that the item in question was a "make-shift bomb," located at the Idlewild Apartments along FM 1960 near Perry Road. Constable Mark Herman had constable deputies responding to the site after family members reported the suspicious item.
