Boulder County is throwing its hat into the ring of housing innovation with a hefty $500,000 fund aimed at tackling the area's housing crunch. Launching the Housing Innovation Fund, the initiative is doling out up to $100,000 per project in one-time grants in hopes of backing community-led ventures that can provide more affordable, stable, and accessible housing solutions, as per Boulder County.
This financial push comes courtesy of the Affordable and Attainable Housing Tax (AAHT), and it's not just throwing money at any old idea, the aim is to fund pods of innovation, projects willing to pilot, to test, or to grow programs that can yield real results for those hit hardest by the pricing out and scarcity game that plagues the housing market today. Municipal governments and nonprofit organizations throughout Boulder County are being called to action, urged to apply for these grants and step up with inventive proposals.
"We want to support new ideas that challenge the status quo and move us toward a future where everyone in Boulder County has access to a safe, affordable place to live," Susana Lopez-Baker, Boulder County Housing Director, as obtained by Boulder County.
