Residents in parts of El Dorado County should be aware that CAL FIRE Amador-El Dorado Unit, in partnership with Sierra Pacific Industries, will conduct a controlled burn today near Omo Ranch Road and N South Road as part of the Shake-Omo Vegetation Management Project. The burn, covering roughly 30 acres of timber understory, grass, and brush, aims to reduce wildfire fuel and improve fire protection, as reported by the CAL FIRE Amador-El Dorado Unit.
The operation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., pending approval from local air quality authorities and favorable weather. Residents may see smoke in the area, and officials have contingency measures ready to halt the burn if conditions become unsafe, as stated by the CAL FIRE Amador-El Dorado Unit.
According to the CAL FIRE Amador-El Dorado Unit on their Facebook page, a prescribed burn will be carried out in El Dorado County only after completing a 'Go/No Go' checklist that checks weather, available resources, and ongoing incidents. Residents are advised to stay alert for updates. The burn is part of California’s efforts to manage vegetation and reduce wildfire risks, with plans adjusted as needed to maintain safety.
