The Central Florida athletic community has been rattled by an incident involving Gabrielle Suver, a renowned local triathlete, who was the victim of a hit-and-run accident while training last Saturday. ClickOrlando reported Suver, who won the Track Shack running series in 2024 and placed fifth in an Ironman event this September, was training on her bicycle around 8 a.m. on County Road 455 in Clermont when she was sideswiped by a vehicle that proceeded to leave the scene.

As reported by FOX 35 Orlando, the professional athlete was preparing for the Cozumel Ironman when the driver ran her off the road. Found with no witnesses to the collision itself, passersby called 911 upon discovering Suver in the aftermath. She was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment, suffering from multiple fractures and a concussion that required serious medical intervention.

According to details shared by Suver's coach and best friend, Rebecca Marsh, in an interview obtained by FOX 35 Orlando, the triathlete underwent surgery, including the placement of a rod in her leg, had three spinal fractures that required back surgery, three broken ribs, a busted elbow, and suffered a concussion. Marsh's statement highlighted Suver's spirit, saying, "Right now, everything is good. The surgery went well. It's just a matter about resting and recovering and healing."

Having received massive support from the local sports community, Suver's supporters have set up a GoFundMe page to aid with her medical expenses as the investigation into the hit-and-run continues.
