A southeast Houston man is facing charges after investigators reported that he recorded three women in a home’s bathroom using a hidden camera he allegedly installed while setting up security equipment. Deputies identified the suspect as 50-year-old Tuong Thien Mac, who had been dating one of the women. According to investigators, the other two alleged victims are her adult daughters. Harris County Precinct 2 deputies said they recovered a concealed recording device and video that appears to show how the camera was installed inside the bathroom.

According to KHOU, deputies said Mac initially offered to install exterior security cameras at the home. Investigators allege he used that access to place an additional device in the bathroom, which later recorded footage of the three women. The constable’s office told KHOU that the investigation produced video evidence showing the device being installed.

In a statement to KHOU, Precinct 2 Lt. Marco Leal advised residents to inspect restrooms, fixtures and vents and to be cautious about who they allow into their homes, particularly when installation work or access to private areas is involved. Deputies said Mac was taken into custody after they reviewed the recovered footage and seized the device.

What The Law Says

Under Texas law, recording someone in a bathroom without their consent may be charged as invasive visual recording. The statute prohibits capturing images of a person “in a bathroom or changing room” and classifies the offense as a state jail felony, as per the Justia U.S. Law. The specific charges prosecutors file will depend on the evidence submitted by deputies.

How To Report Suspicious Devices

The Harris County Precinct 2 Constable's Office provides contact information and a dispatch line for reporting suspicious activity. Its patrol division offers both an office number and a dispatch line for immediate assistance. Precinct 2 advises anyone who finds a hidden device or has information related to this case to contact their office and to preserve anything that could be considered evidence.

Prosecutors are expected to review the case, and any additional charges will be determined as the investigation progresses. Authorities have not yet released details regarding court dates or bond amounts.
