Customs officers at the Del Rio Port of Entry arrested 20-year-old Miguel Maltos yesterday after confirming an outstanding felony warrant for indecency with a child by sexual contact. Maltos was stopped as a pedestrian crossing the Del Rio International Bridge and referred to a secondary inspection.
As per the U.S. Customs and Border Protection release, during the inspection, biometric verification against law enforcement databases, including the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), confirmed the warrant issued by the Val Verde County Sheriff’s Office. Maltos was then turned over to the sheriff’s office and transported to the Val Verde Correctional Facility.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said the arrest demonstrates the agency’s efforts to maintain community safety. CBP manages border security, travel, and trade, with more than 67,000 employees.
