The National Weather Service in Jacksonville, FL issued a dense fog advisory early this morning, impacting travel conditions across portions of northeast Florida and southeast Georgia. According to the NWS forecast, visibility will drop to a quarter mile or less in dense fog. Drivers are advised to exercise caution.
The advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EST. Areas particularly affected include inland and coastal regions around Nassau, Duval, Flagler, and St. Johns in Florida, as well as Wayne, Glynn, Camden, and Charlton in Georgia. Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous, warns the NWS. Road users should slow down, use their headlights, and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.
For residents in Jacksonville and surrounding areas, the fog is expected to lift by mid-morning, giving way to partly sunny skies and warmer temperatures reaching high near 83 degrees. Light southwest winds will pick up between 5 to 9 mph. The evening will see mostly clear skies with a low around 60 degrees.
As the weekend approaches, the weather promises sunny days with highs in the low 80s and light winds. Come evening, temperatures will dip into the mid-60s. It seems conditions will remain mostly benign except for a slight chance of showers forecasted for Thanksgiving Day, with the NWS predicting a 20 percent chance and temperatures cooling to a high near 71 degrees.
