Denver's mayor, Mike Johnston, has announced ahead of schedule achievements in the city's ambitious 2025 goals. With the end of the year fast approaching, Johnston's administration has met or stands close to reaching its targets across six essential sectors: Vibrant, Safe, Affordable, All In Mile High, Climate, and Family Friendly. In a presentation to city council members and followed up by a public announcement, these milestones reflect the city's dedication to progress and the resilience of its community.

Johnston's office declared, "Whether it is tackling housing affordability, making our streets safer or revitalizing our neighborhoods, we’ve proved that when we come together with urgency and purpose, we can achieve what may seem impossible," according to the City and County of Denver. These successes range from a rejuvenated 16th Street, now completely operational after a long-term revamp, to a noteworthy uptick in downtown activity, which is nearing pre-pandemic numbers.

On the public safety front, Denver has seen a decrease in firearm homicides by 47% and car thefts at the airport and non-fatal shootings are also notably lower. The significant drop in emergency calls is attributed to the effectiveness of housing initiatives that have helped reduce them by 48% compared to last year, offering a strong indicator of the city's focus on stable housing solutions.

The city's All In Mile High initiative has particularly made strides by moving more than 2,006 individuals from homelessness into shelters. Despite ongoing budget uncertainties, more than 1,180 people have also found permanent housing: "city teams have also connected 1,180 people to permanent housing," as per the City and County of Denver. This has brought the cumulative number of people assisted since 2023 to 7,511.

Moreover, the city's commitment to the climate has translated to exceeding water-saving goals and the installation of eco-friendly home upgrades such as heat pumps, EV chargers, and solar panels. To sapling, Denver has netted over 3,600 newly planted trees.
