The Detroit Historical Museum has opened a new exhibit called "Detroit Red Wings at 100: Becoming Hockeytown." The exhibition marks the 100th anniversary of the Detroit Red Wings and features items such as player jerseys and the City of Champions Gallery. According to ClickOnDetroit, the exhibit will be open to the public until November 3, 2026.
Marcel Parent, Director of Curation & Collections at Ilitch Holdings, said the Detroit Red Wings exhibit features artifacts from the team’s history, including items from the Detroit Falcons era and a 1940s ice resurfacer. Fans can pose in lockers modeled after Olympia Stadium, see the original goal lights from Joe Louis Arena, listen to organ music from Olympia Stadium, and view retired player spotlights. Parent said, "Nobody is an expert over 100 years of history of a team," as reported by FOX 2 Detroit.
The exhibition's richness extends to displays of memorabilia and photos from both Olympia Stadium and Joe Louis Arena, immersing visitors in the environs where legends were made. "It's an honor to see a century of Red Wings history brought to life at the Detroit Historical Museum," Asia Gholston, Senior Vice President of Brand Marketing at Ilitch Sports + Entertainment, conveyed in a statement obtained by C and G News. The inclusion of artifacts directly from the Red Wings' archives and the Hockey Hall of Fame only adds to the authenticity and allure of the Detroit Red Wings at 100 exhibition.
