Federal authorities have detained a Florida man charged with making interstate terror-linked threats while residing in Maryland. The accused, 27-year-old Arsham Rashidi Dizajgan of Gainesville, Florida, faces six counts of transmitting threats to injure another person across interstate or foreign commerce, as stated in an indictment unveiled yesterday by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland, reported by Fox Baltimore.
Dizajgan was apprehended in Gainesville on the day the indictment was announced. According to the indictment, between September 2024 and March 2025, while residing in Arnold, Maryland, Dizajgan utilized the social platform TikTok to publish imagery and language mirroring tactics linked to the foreign terrorist organization Hamas. Specifically, upside-down red triangles were depicted overlaying the heads of Americans in his posts.
WMAR-2 News summarizes the alleged activities, highlighting that these posts were coupled with threatening comments. Additionally, Dizajgan stands accused of posting content on TikTok that condemned Americans and non-Muslims, while celebrating acts of violence against them.
In a news release obtained by Fox Baltimore, U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes emphasized, "Threats to the safety and security of American citizens will not be tolerated, particularly when such threats adopt the language and tactics of violent extremists and foreign terrorist organizations.” Special Agent in Charge Jimmy Paul from the FBI’s Baltimore Field Office also stressed the gravity with which such threats are taken, ensuring swift investigative and prosecutorial actions to prevent online vitriol from manifesting into tangible harm.
