Justice arrived with a heavy gavel for Carlos Perez Castro, 54, who was found guilty by the court of multiple counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child. In a recent social media post from the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office, accolades were extended to the Fort Worth Police Department for their diligent work on a case that rocked the community to its core. The DA's office gave a nod to justice served, driving home the point that the safety of children remains paramount.
Castro's heinous act against an 11-year-old girl on October 9, 2016, began with an offer of something as innocent as gum, which he used as a guise to sexually assault her. He eluded capture for years, but in a turn of events that underscores the dogged pursuit of law enforcement, he was arrested in 2022 in Florida. Running before being arrested in 2022 in Florida, the long arm of the law caught up with him, and his freedom became a relic of the past.
The case, marked by the grave reality of child abuse, resulted in a 35-year prison sentence for Castro. The Tarrant County District Attorney's Office post noted the team effort that brought about this conviction. It listed Assistant District Attorneys John Kleinwachter and Matt Rivers, Investigator James Desmarais, and Victim Coordinator Elizabeth Garcia, all pivotal in weaving together the strands of justice that ultimately bound Castro to his sentence.
