On Sunday night, residents in Winnetka were shaken by a drive-by shooting that left four people wounded. The incident, reported at around 9:45 p.m. near the crossroads of Oso Avenue and Saticoy Street, led to a fast-paced response from the LAPD's Topanga Division. No details regarding the state of the victims were made immediately clear as they were hastily transported to a local hospital for treatment. NBC Los Angeles first shared news of this developing situation.
While specifics of the drive-by are yet to fully unravel, preliminary reports suggest the violence may be attributed to three or four suspects in a white sedan, embarking to quickly flee eastbound on Saticoy Street after the attack. Police and fire authorities, swarmed by anxious onlookers, were observed by Sky5 to have substantially sealed off part of the area to facilitate an ongoing investigation into the evening's harrowing events. Though unverified, information procured by KTLA hints at four males having been the targets of the shooting.
Simultaneously, a strain settled over a portion of Saticoy Street as traffic came to a complete halt with the thoroughfare closed in both directions. Amidst the tumult, witness Quincy Mendoza, caught in a family dinner, described the unsettling scene. "I was just having dinner with my family. We heard the gate open, so the door was open, and out of nowhere, you hear four gunshots, just went off. And then instantly, you hear people scream and yell. They're asking for help, they're pleading for help," he related to ABC7.
As the authorities continue to search for the gunmen, little is known about their motives or identities. The Los Angeles Police Department has yet to release any additional details regarding the suspects involved in the shooting. The victims, while confirmed to be "conscious and breathing" at the time of their transport, remain shrouded in unpredictability concerning their current conditions, as disclosed by CBS News.
