Central North Carolina residents woke up to a chilly start today, with the National Weather Service in Raleigh maintaining a frost advisory in effect until 9 AM this morning. As temperatures dipped as low as 38 degrees, parts of the region, including Durham, Edgecombe, Franklin, Halifax, Nash, Wake, Warren, and Wilson Counties, experienced frost, which could pose a threat to sensitive vegetation, according to the NWS forecast.
The weather outlook from NWS Raleigh for the coming days seems to be mercifully free of severe weather events. Following the cessation of the Frost Advisory, the region is expected to enjoy a series of clear, sunny days with daytime highs gradually warming to just below 70 by the end of the week. It is expected that residents will continue to benefit from these favorable conditions until at least next Friday.
As for tonight's weather prospects, Raleigh locals can expect a mostly clear sky with a low around 39 and calm winds, providing an ideal scenario for stargazing or enjoying the crisp fall air. Come Sunday, the forecast anticipates a mostly sunny day with a high near 65 and calmer winds turning eastward in the afternoon, as per the NWS.
Yet, the peace might be briefly disrupted by incoming rain starting Sunday night, which is set to last into the early hours of Monday. "Rain likely, mainly before 8am. Partly sunny, with a high near 62. North wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible," the NWS forecast detailed.
