
Members of the Genesee County Sheriff's Office and the community are mourning the loss of K-9 Deputy Max, who passed away last Saturday, leaving a gap both professionally and personally for his team and handler, Lt. Hunt. Max served for a decade, assisting in tracking missing persons, detecting narcotics, and supporting officers during emergencies.
CBS News noted the impact of his work, stating, "His service saved lives, brought justice, and strengthened the safety of the people of Genesee County." Beyond his duties, Max shared a deep bond with Lt. Hunt, reflecting a partnership built on loyalty and trust.
According to the Genesee County Sheriff's Office on their Facebook page, K-9 Deputy Max has passed away. Sheriff Swanson called him "a loyal partner, guardian, and member of our Sheriff’s Office family," noting his ten years of service in community safety and law enforcement operations. The post said, "The bond between Lt. Hunt and Max were extraordinary—a true example of loyalty, trust, and teamwork." Condolences were extended to Lt. Hunt, his family, and everyone who knew Max.
