As households gear up for Thanksgiving festivities, Meijer has rolled out enticing offers on turkeys and holiday essentials, giving consumers a chance to shrink their grocery bills. According to a report by FOX 2 Detroit, select Meijer Market stores are giving away a free turkey with a $75 purchase, featuring the promotion at locations such as Woodward Corner Market in Royal Oak, Rivertown Market in Detroit, and Clarkston's Independence Market on Waldon Road. This offer, however, is not extended to all Meijer locations—and only applies to shoppers using the mPerks rewards system, with certain restrictions like alcohol and gift card purchases not counting toward the required purchase amount.
Meanwhile, general Meijer stores are offering Meijer-brand frozen turkeys at a reduced price of $0.49 per pound—a significant markdown from their usual $2.29 per pound rate, as noted by MLive, with this promotion set to run through Thanksgiving day. Beyond poultry, Meijer's Chief Merchandising & Marketing Officer Don Sanderson emphasized the retailer's commitment to affordability during the festive season—highlighting a price reduction of up to 50 percent on a breadth of over 90 Meijer brand grocery essentials, from stuffing mix and canned vegetables to various baking necessities, ensuring families can maintain their holiday traditions without financial strain.
These holiday promotions are part of Meijer's broader strategy to support its customers during the holiday season, as they work towards offering low prices on staples for festivities like Thanksgiving dinner, with President & CEO Rick Keyes commenting, "As a family-owned company, we understand the importance of holiday traditions like Thanksgiving dinner," as quoted in a Meijer press release, underscoring the company's dedication to facilitating affordable and special meals for families and friends.
In addition to price cuts, Meijer continues to give back to the community, pledging to donate the equivalent of one meal to Simply Give food pantry partners for each customer who purchases select Meijer brand food items in the lead-up to Thanksgiving, aiming to help those less fortunate to also enjoy the holiday, a cause Sanderson expounded on by stating that Meijer brand products "offer the essential ingredients at prices that help stretch their budgets," thus aiming to make celebrations stress-free for patrons, which reflects the brand's ethos of servitude and practicality this holiday season, as per the insights shared by MLive.
