Texas Governor Greg Abbott recently took part in a volunteer appreciation event, where he helped serve meals to the individuals who assisted in the reconstruction of the Dietert Center in Kerrville. In the wake of July's historic flooding, the center, which is vital for the local senior community, underwent significant rebuilding efforts. According to a press release from the Governor's office, Abbott used the occasion to express his gratitude to those who have contributed to the community's recovery.
In his address, Governor Abbott noted that the state of Texas was not just recovering, but was on track to rebuild "stronger than ever before." The key to this resilience, he pointed out, has been the combined effort and dedication displayed by the local volunteers. "You are the heart and soul of the community," Governor Abbott said. "Whether you live here, work here, or eat here, you depend on the people here." He committed to supporting Kerr County residents, promising to "be here every day, every step of the way, until we completely rebuild this entire region."
The luncheon highlighted the solidarity and collaboration essential to the recovery process. Governor Abbott also acknowledged the support the state continues to extend towards those affected by the July floods. This support spans across affected communities in Texas and aims to ensure their safe and secure restoration. The event brought together various local and state officials, including Texas Division of Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd and Representative Wes Virdell. The Governor also thanked organizations like Hunt. Fish. Feed. and Spectrum for their role in providing food and assistance throughout the recovery and reconstruction phase.
