Hawaii residents can expect brisk trade winds and scattered showers, particularly in windward and mauka areas, as a high-pressure system continues over the Central Pacific. The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for parts of Maui County and the Big Island, with conditions expected to persist through Thursday morning.
Maritime operations are impacted, with a Gale Warning in the Alenuihaha Channel and a Small Craft Advisory for surrounding waters due to strong winds and approaching swells. These conditions may cause elevated sea levels, coastal erosion, and localized flooding while cooler temperatures prevail across the islands, according to the National Weather Service.
Hawaii is experiencing strong trade winds from a 1034 mb high-pressure system north of the islands. Low humidity may cause near-critical fire conditions for a few hours, but moisture should keep it below critical levels. A High Surf Advisory is in effect for east-facing shores until Thursday evening, and a Wind Advisory is in effect until Thursday morning. These conditions are expected to continue into the weekend as the high-pressure system moves east and weakens, as reported by the National Weather Service.
